Job Summary

This role supports the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Research Neutron Source (FRM II) in Garching by implementing IT security requirements derived from the SEWD-IT directive, focusing on systems within a critical infrastructure environment. The specialist will manage and maintain a diverse range of operational IT systems and networks, spanning from standard PC systems to highly specialized, heterogeneous control technology systems used for monitoring the FRM II. Key responsibilities include defining and implementing IT security measures, analyzing utilized information technology and interfaces, and ensuring compliance with the SEWD directive's protection aspects. The position requires technical expertise in minimizing system functionality, configuring network interfaces restrictively, and managing security throughout the supplier relationship lifecycle (selection, requirements, contract design). A significant part of the job involves administrative support for complex changes, requiring close collaboration with internal departments, regulatory authorities, and external nuclear law experts, ensuring IT systems adhere to stringent security standards like BSI's IT-Grundschutz.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree (FH or University) in Computer Science or IT field

Experience

  • Professional experience with security standards and processes applied to critical infrastructure and the protection of radioactive materials
  • Experience with testing, monitoring, and emergency preparedness in IT operations
  • Knowledge of attacker scenarios, particularly concerning privileged access
  • Comprehensive knowledge of documenting and creating security measures in IT Security manuals
  • Experience with specific requirements for safety-critical areas such as nuclear energy or the transport of radioactive materials
  • Experience collaborating with supervisory authorities and their appointed experts
