Job Summary

This position is based at the Regional Computing Center Erlangen (RRZE), the internal IT service provider for the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), supporting approximately 4,600 IT workstations. The successful candidate will be essential in maintaining reliable IT operations for students and staff. Day-to-day responsibilities include the installation, configuration, and commissioning of PCs and peripheral devices, as well as the on-site delivery and setup of IT workstations. A major focus is customer support, involving the reception and independent resolution of hardware and software fault reports, managing network patching documentation, and coordinating warranty cases and complaints. Candidates must possess completed vocational training as an IT Specialist in System Integration or an equivalent qualification, alongside initial professional experience. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows client administration and PC/notebook hardware maintenance is mandatory. The role offers the stability of a public service position (TV-L E 9a), flexible working hours, 30 days of vacation, and the possibility of home office after onboarding.
