Job Summary
This leadership role at the Cluster of Excellence “Physics of Life” (PoL) involves managing and scientifically guiding advanced research facilities focusing on microscopy, image analysis, and biophysics. The Head will be responsible for the strategic design and implementation of innovative interdisciplinary research and development projects, continuously expanding the methodological and technological capabilities of the facilities. Key day-to-day tasks include managing a multidisciplinary team, providing expert scientific advice on high-performance light microscopy experiments, and ensuring the smooth operational coordination of all imaging and biophysics equipment, including maintenance and user instruction. Candidates must possess a PhD in a relevant scientific field, solid experience in advanced imaging and biophysical techniques, and excellent communication skills. The position offers a challenging, varied role in a dynamic, international environment at a University of Excellence.

University degree and PhD degree in biophysics, physics, biology, or a similarly suitable field
Experience
- Solid experience in advanced imaging, image analysis, and/or biophysical measurement techniques
- Experience in team leadership or research infrastructure management (big plus)
- Professional experience in managing scientific facilities
