Job Summary

This leadership role at BioNTech IMFS in Idar-Oberstein, Germany, focuses on driving analytical excellence within the Quality Control (QC) department, which supports the manufacturing of cellular and gene therapy products for clinical trials. The Head of ASAT will technically and disciplinarily lead a highly specialized department of approximately 40 employees across three teams. Key responsibilities include managing the budget and planning technology projects, overseeing the transfer, optimization, and GMP implementation of innovative analytical methods (both chemical-physical and cell-based assays), and establishing platform technologies for product characterization and release. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal quality standards, actively participate in process optimization within an agile environment, and represent the department across European sites. This position requires extensive professional experience in the biotech or pharma sector, strong leadership skills, and expertise in analytical method development and validation within a GMP-regulated setting.
