Job Summary

This role as a Technical Specialist in Chemical Technology is based at the Fraunhofer IVV in Freising, focusing on the critical area of Polymer Recycling Process Development. The successful candidate will be responsible for the practical implementation of solvent-based plastic recycling processes within the institute's pilot plant (Technikum). Day-to-day tasks include operating diverse machinery and aggregates, meticulously documenting results in collaboration with project management, and ensuring the continuous functionality of systems through installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting. This position requires a strong technical and chemical background, ideally gained through a qualification such as a Process Mechanic, Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), or Industrial Mechanic. Candidates must demonstrate routine handling of pilot-scale apparatus, a hands-on mentality, and a structured, quality-oriented approach. Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a Process Mechanic for Plastics and Rubber Technology, Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), Technician, Industrial Mechanic, or Chemical Operator.

Experience

  • Routine in handling apparatus and systems at pilot plant scale
  • Professional experience with technical and chemical know-how
  • Experience with plastics and highly viscous liquids (Desirable)
  • Affinity for problem-solving and a hands-on mentality

Additional

  • Location: Freising, Germany. Initial contract duration of 2 years (with intent for long-term collaboration). Full-time (39 hours/week) or part-time possible.
