Job Summary

This permanent, full-time Technical Officer role within the Physics and Astronomy Faculty at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of practical teaching. The core responsibilities involve developing, constructing, and technically implementing new scientific practical experiments, alongside maintaining and updating existing setups. A key focus is the digitalization of experimental data processing and the practical organization using platforms like Moodle and implementing Electronic Lab Books for assessment. The officer will instruct and support 40-50 teaching assistants each semester and directly supervise students during basic practical experiments, including protocol review and performance evaluation. Candidates must possess a completed university degree in Physics, detailed knowledge of experimental physics, extensive practical experience in equipment setup, and strong pedagogical skills. Proficiency in German (Fluent) and English (Intermediate) is required.
