Job Summary

This doctoral position, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), focuses on quantifying the effects of aerosols on warm clouds using a novel cloud-by-cloud approach. The successful candidate will join the Institute for Meteorology at Leipzig University to conduct independent research within the Aerosols and Clouds group. Day-to-day tasks include developing and adapting customized code, analyzing and interpreting extensive satellite observation data, and disseminating findings through scientific publications and conference presentations. The core goal is to compile a unique 15-year dataset relating cloud-relevant aerosol concentrations to evolving clouds under varying meteorological conditions. This role requires a Master of Science degree (or equivalent) in meteorology, physics, or a related discipline, coupled with a strong interest in atmospheric sciences, particularly aerosols, clouds, and satellite remote sensing. Experience in scientific programming for data analysis is desirable. This is an attractive opportunity offering integration into the thriving Leipzig Graduate School for Aerosols, Clouds, and Radiation, along with flexible working conditions.
