Job Summary

This permanent full-time position, located in Braunschweig, Göttingen, or Salzderhelden, focuses on regional nature conservation within the Lower Saxony State Department for Water Management, Coastal and Nature Conservation (NLWKN). The core responsibilities involve the creation and implementation of area-specific conservation and development concepts, particularly for Natura 2000 sites and in alignment with the Water Framework Directive. Day-to-day tasks include managing state-owned nature conservation areas, steering grassland management in coordination with tenants, and cross-departmental planning and execution of nature conservation projects, especially focused on flowing water development. The role also requires providing expert advice to other state administrations, associations, and land managers. Key qualifications include a relevant degree in environmental planning, water management, or civil engineering, proven experience in project management for conservation measures, and strong knowledge of nature conservation law and administrative procedures.
