Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to join the Department of Applied Biosciences and Process Engineering at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Köthen. The role is a 30-month, full-time, fixed-term position focused on the EU/LSA-EFRE funded project 'Innovative Mycolab - Mycothek (InMyco).' The core responsibility involves developing new mycelium composites using regional waste streams and establishing a Mycotheca and documentation structure. Day-to-day tasks include conceptualizing project content, developing and optimizing solid-state and submerged bioprocesses for mycelium-based material production, and collaborating closely with design and applied biotechnology teams. The successful candidate will also be responsible for literature research, formulating scientific hypotheses, and publishing results in international journals and conferences. This position offers the possibility of pursuing a PhD within the university's Life Sciences Doctoral Center, making it ideal for ambitious researchers in biotechnology or bioprocess engineering.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Master, Diploma (University), PhD) with (very) good success in a natural or engineering science course (e.g., Biotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering)

Experience

  • Professional experience in Bioprocess Technology/Development
  • Experience working with Fungi in a bioreactor (ideally)
  • Routine working methods in laboratory operations
  • Expertise in Biotechnology/Bioprocess Engineering or comparable fields (desirable)

Additional

  • The position is full-time and fixed-term for 30 months. The employment relationship is governed by the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L). Possibility of pursuing a PhD at the Life Sciences Doctoral Center.
