Job Summary

This part-time position as a Student Assistant in the Immunogenetics Laboratory at Uniklinikum Erlangen offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to life-saving organ transplant diagnostics. The role primarily involves participating in telephone on-call duty during nights and weekends for organ donor screening, collaborating closely with the German Organ Transplantation Foundation (DSO) and Eurotransplant. When deployed during on-call shifts, the assistant will independently perform critical laboratory tasks, including HLA typing and crossmatch diagnostics. Ideal candidates must have completed vocational training as a Medical Technical Laboratory Assistant (MTL) or be currently enrolled in a relevant degree program such as Molecular Medicine, Medicine, or Biology. Fluency in written and spoken German is mandatory. This role provides meticulous training, flexible hours (8-10 per week desired), and the chance to gain specialized experience in transplant immunology within a highly motivated team environment, ensuring medical progress and high-level patient care.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Medical Technical Laboratory Assistant (MTL) OR current enrollment as a student in Molecular Medicine, Medicine, Biology, or a similar relevant field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in laboratory diagnostics (Required based on MTL requirement or student duties)
  • Practical experience in molecular biological techniques (Advantageous)
