Job Summary

This role at the University Hospital Erlangen involves contributing to a DFG-funded research project focused on advancing image-guided brachytherapy. The successful candidate will be responsible for the (pre-)clinical development, implementation, and testing of real-time navigation procedures for interventional radiotherapy, utilizing a mobile Cone-Beam-CT system and optical tracking. Key tasks include planning and conducting experimental studies, analyzing image data, developing algorithms for needle bending correction, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. This position offers a unique opportunity to pursue a doctorate within the Life@FAU Graduate School, publish research findings, and contribute to teaching activities, all within a cutting-edge medical-technical environment.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or equivalent in Physics, Medical Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Eligibility for doctoral studies (Dr. rer. nat. or Dr. rer. biol. hum.).

Experience

  • Professional experience in interdisciplinary research within a medical-technical environment
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: medical imaging, radiotherapy, image processing, optical tracking, optical navigation, or software development
  • Experience in planning and conducting experimental studies
  • Experience in analyzing and evaluating image data and developing algorithms
