Job Summary

This role is situated within the Product Testing of Immunological Medicines department at the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut, a federal scientific institution focused on vaccines and biomedical drugs. The successful candidate will primarily execute experimental batch testing of immunoglobulins, serums, and other biomedical pharmaceuticals using accredited chemical, biochemical, and physicochemical methods. A core responsibility involves Quality Management, acting as the deputy QM representative for the department, ensuring all documentation and biological assays adhere strictly to the DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard. Day-to-day tasks include performing biological assays such as ELISA and flow cytometry, establishing new laboratory methods through validation, and managing general lab organization. This position requires vocational training in a relevant technical field or a university degree in Life Sciences, coupled with practical QM and LIMS experience, offering a challenging opportunity in a highly regulated public health environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Technical Assistant, Biologist Laboratory Technician, MTLA, BTA, or equivalent; OR Completed university degree in Life Sciences, Natural Sciences (e.g., Biology, Pharmacology, Chemistry). Additional qualification as a Quality Management Representative is preferred.

Experience

  • Professional experience in quality management (DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025)
  • Professional experience in documentation practice and LIMS systems
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of biological analytical methods (ELISA, Flow Cytometry)
  • Professional experience in preparation, execution, and evaluation of analyses according to SOPs
