Job Summary

This role involves the hands-on setup, commissioning, programming, and operation of demonstrators and exhibits for cutting-edge research projects in production automation and industrial robotics. The successful candidate will work at the Learning and Research Factory (LFF) and the Center for Engineering Smarter Product-Service Systems (ZESS), focusing on advanced topics like robotic machining of concrete elements and robot-based 3D printing of metals. Day-to-day tasks include extensive robot and PLC programming (using tools like RAPID, RobotStudio, Step7, and CODESYS), as well as performing heavy current electrical work, including connecting and wiring automation systems. Key qualifications include being a certified electrical technician, or having a background as an electrician or mechatronics technician, coupled with multi-year professional experience in robotics and automation, and knowledge of electrical safety standards (DGUV V3, VDE norms). This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to technology transfer and work in an interdisciplinary environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure.

Required Skills

Education

State-certified Technician in Electrical Engineering, or successfully completed vocational training as an Electrician or Mechatronics Technician for Operational/Automation Technology, or equivalent qualification

Experience

  • Multi-year professional experience, ideally in robotics and automation technology
  • Experience in the setup, connection, commissioning, and CE testing of robot-supported production systems
  • Experience as a qualified electrician (Elektrofachkraft) according to DGUV Regulation 3 (or willingness to acquire)
  • Knowledge of machining processes with robots (e.g., milling, drilling, sawing) is advantageous (or willingness to acquire)
