Job Summary

This role involves leading the expansion and development of the municipal Geoinformation Systems (GIS) and establishing a central Geodata Infrastructure (GDI) for the city administration. The Geodata System Administrator will manage projects related to the central GIS, provide system support for application software and the Geodata portal, and analyze and prepare complex geodata. Key qualifications include a relevant university degree (e.g., Geoinformatics, Surveying, Geography, or IT) or equivalent professional experience, combined with at least two years of hands-on experience managing and operating GIS platforms like GeoMedia, QGIS, or ArcGIS. Expertise in SQL for object-relational database querying and XML for data modeling is essential. This position offers a secure, temporary public sector role (until mid-2027) with flexible working hours, allowing the successful candidate to contribute significantly to the digital transformation of the City of Darmstadt.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Surveying, Geoinformatics, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field focusing on GIS and Geodata Management.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience (required if no qualifying degree is held)
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience managing Geoinformation Systems (e.g., GeoMedia, QGIS, ArcGIS)
