Job Summary

This PhD student position focuses on investigating the inflammatory mechanisms driving the crosstalk between chronic kidney disease and vascular complications, such as heart attacks and stroke, within the Department of Nephrology at University Hospital Bonn. The role involves hands-on research using state-of-the-art methodologies, including flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and gene expression analysis, applied to primary cells, human kidney samples, and murine models of kidney disease. Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree or Diploma in life sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, or a related field) and be highly motivated to bridge clinical questions with experimental science. Previous experience with immunologic techniques is highly desirable, and FELASA certification for animal work is preferred.
