Job Summary

The Leibniz Institute for the Analysis of Biodiversity Change (LIB) is seeking a Research Associate to design, implement, and maintain a robust database for genomic and transcriptomic data. This role is crucial for advancing the institute's extensive scientific collections. Day-to-day tasks involve the prototypical development of a sequence database using tools like PostgreSQL, implementing data modeling, and designing necessary APIs. A core responsibility is ensuring data storage and provision adhere strictly to FAIR principles. The associate will also gather user requirements to develop corresponding interfaces, curate and validate complex sequence data, and establish procedures for versioning and updating while considering legal frameworks such as GDPR and the Nagoya Protocol. Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Bioinformatics or Computer Science, possess strong expertise in database development, and demonstrate excellent programming skills, specifically mentioning Python. This three-year fixed-term position offers an attractive opportunity to contribute to globally connected research on biodiversity change in a dynamic, family-friendly environment in Bonn.
