Job Summary

This role involves providing essential technical assistance in chemistry and material analysis for the geoscientific collections and laboratories at the Leibniz Institute in Hamburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting chemical and sedimentological analytical procedures, including wet chemical methods and potentially instrumental analysis like XRF or ICP-MS, while collaborating closely with scientists, curators, and students. Key responsibilities also include maintaining and organizing laboratory infrastructure, managing material orders, and ensuring strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards. The position requires a completed technical or scientific education, such as a Chemical Laboratory Technician or CTA, coupled with experience in analytical chemistry, particularly involving inorganic materials or micropaleontological/palynological samples.
