Job Summary

This role involves driving the development of innovative separation materials critical for the efficient purification of biomolecules within the Downstream Processing segment of the biopharmaceutical industry. The Scientist will analyze material requirements, identify critical parameters, and develop advanced analytical methods for characterizing separation materials and processes. A key part of the role includes collaborating closely with internal departments, customers, suppliers, and research institutions on future-oriented material and process development projects. Successful candidates must possess a PhD or extensive professional experience in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Biotechnology, coupled with profound practical knowledge of Polymer Chemistry, Filtration, and/or Chromatography. This position offers the opportunity to work in a hybrid model (remote/on-site) at the Göttingen campus for a rapidly growing, globally listed Life Science company, contributing significantly to innovation in biopharma purification technologies.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Master/Diploma) with a PhD (Doctorate) required

Experience

  • Professional experience in Chemistry, Materials Science, Biotechnology, or a related technical field (if lacking a PhD)
  • Extensive practical experience and knowledge in Polymer Chemistry, Filtration, and/or Chromatography
  • Practical experience in the purification and analysis of biomolecules (e.g., proteins, DNA) (Ideal)
  • Experience in planning, distributing tasks, and supervising laboratory personnel and students
