Job Summary
This role supports the critical 24/7 operation and monitoring of the Digital Radio Communications network (Digitalfunk) used by public safety organizations (BOS) across Lower Saxony. The specialist will be responsible for ensuring seamless service by coordinating closely with the Central Network Operator, federal/state authorities, and tactical control centers. Key tasks include managing radio subscribers, implementing immediate measures during operational incidents and disturbances, and performing rigorous technical surveillance of digital radio base stations, microwave links, and peripheral systems to guarantee transmission quality and availability. Candidates must possess a strong background in electro, radio, or communications technology, or system integration. The position requires flexibility for shift work (initially early/late shifts, transitioning to rotating shifts) and the willingness to undergo an extended security clearance (SÜ 2). This is a permanent position within the Central Police Directorate, offering a stable environment focused on maintaining essential security infrastructure.
Required Skills
Education
Vocational training/Apprenticeship (e.g., Electrical Engineer specializing in Radio Technology, Radio Technician, System Electronics Technician, Communications Electronics Technician, or IT Specialist in System Integration)
Experience
- Professional vocational training in Electrical Engineering (Radio Technology specialization), Radio Technology, System Electronics, or Communications Electronics
- Professional vocational training as an IT Specialist (System Integration specialization)
- Knowledge of Digital Radio communications (preferred)
- Basic understanding of Public Safety Organization (BOS) structures and operations (preferred)
