Job Summary

This role involves pioneering research at the intersection of cryptography, engineering, and natural sciences, focusing specifically on physical cryptography and decentralized systems like Bitcoin. Day-to-day responsibilities include defining security requirements for physical one-way functions, conducting security analysis using machine learning attacks, and designing a novel proof-of-physical-work protocol. The associate will also simulate the resulting blockchain network to assess its security and robustness. A crucial part of the job involves scientific communication, requiring the publication of research findings and presentation at international conferences, alongside contributing to the institute's teaching activities. Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Computer Science, preferably with a focus on Cryptography, possess very good English skills, and demonstrate strong interest in theoretical, technical, machine learning, and simulation challenges. This position offers secured five-year project funding, the opportunity to pursue a PhD, and excellent working conditions within a leading German university.
