Job Summary

As a Backup System Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the digital future and operational readiness of Germany's defense sector by managing one of the country's largest and most complex IT infrastructures. Your core responsibility involves the stable, secure, and efficient operation of geo-redundant backup environments, specifically focusing on the DellEMC Data Protection Suite, Veeam, and/or IBM Spectrum Protect. Daily tasks include supporting the backup and restoration of critical Microsoft Groupware applications like Exchange, SharePoint, and MS-SQL Server. You will act as the central backup interface for other departments, handle incident and change management, and ensure all operations adhere to established concepts and best practices. Candidates must possess a relevant technical degree or vocational training, at least three years of professional experience, and relevant vendor certifications. This full-time, permanent role requires fluency in German and good English skills, offering a chance to contribute directly to national security through challenging digitalization projects.

Required Skills

Education

Completed relevant vocational training or completed relevant university degree. Certifications and course certificates in DellEMC NetWorker and/or Veeam and/or IBM Spectrum Protect environment.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience with complex project tasks
  • Experience in securing and restoring Microsoft (Groupware) products (Exchange, SharePoint, MS-SQL Server)
  • Readiness to take responsibility for technical subjects
