Job Summary

This Senior Software Engineer role is central to transforming Zalando's fulfillment core, which handles over 185 million annual customer orders. The successful candidate will immerse themselves in the supply chain domain, developing financially viable self-serve products that utilize complex mathematical models, optimization, and simulation techniques. Day-to-day tasks involve collaborating closely with Applied Scientists and Operations Research scientists to implement and maintain these models in production, while also managing stakeholders to align on goals and challenges. Key requirements include extensive industry experience designing and operating scalable, data-intensive production systems, a deep understanding of microservice architecture and API design, and proficiency with Python, SQL, and a cloud-based stack including AWS, Kubernetes, and Airflow.
