Job Summary

This permanent, full-time position as a Technical Assistant (Chemistry) at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena involves a crucial blend of laboratory operations and administrative management within the Institute for Organic and Macromolecular Chemistry. The core responsibilities include the independent execution and evaluation of specialized chemical analyses, such as elemental analysis, halogen content, refractive index, melting points, and GC/GC-MS measurements, often supporting practical courses. Beyond the lab, the role requires significant administrative expertise, including managing procurement by obtaining quotes and placing orders, overseeing goods receipt, and maintaining the chemical inventory system according to hazardous material regulations. Furthermore, the assistant will handle financial tasks, including processing invoices and cost center management using SAP for various budgets (household, third-party funds). Candidates must possess vocational training as a Chemical Technical Assistant or equivalent, coupled with strong commercial knowledge in accounting and excellent proficiency in SAP and MS Office tools. Good English skills are also required for effective communication.

Experience

  • Professional experience as a Chemical Technical Assistant or State Certified Technician

  • Extensive knowledge of public sector accounting, treasury, and bookkeeping principles
