Job Summary

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to join an interdisciplinary junior research group focused on physical cryptography, specifically researching the principles behind decentralized systems like Bitcoin. The core responsibilities include conducting experimental research, developing and testing physical one-way functions in collaboration with international partners, and designing a proof-of-physical-work protocol with a focus on technical aspects. A key component of the work involves sustainability analysis, quantifying the CO2 footprint of physical mining. The successful candidate will be expected to publish research findings, present at international conferences, and contribute to institutional teaching activities. The position requires a completed Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or Physics, strong English skills, and a keen interest in experimental, process engineering, and cryptographic issues. This is a five-year fixed-term position with the possibility of pursuing a PhD.
