Job Summary

This role is ideal for a highly motivated Research Technician (BTA/MTA) or Life Sciences graduate eager to contribute to cutting-edge infection research at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. The successful candidate will join an international, BMFTR-funded junior research group focused on bacterial interactions to develop new therapeutic approaches against multi-drug resistant pathogens. Day-to-day responsibilities include the preparation, execution, and analysis of complex experiments, cultivating bacteria and eukaryotic cells, and processing clinical and blood samples. Key requirements include a relevant technical degree or Bachelor/Master's in Life Sciences, proven experience handling bacteria (including Risk Group 2 pathogens), and proficiency in molecular biological techniques like PCR, cloning, and blotting. The position offers a dynamic, international research environment and the opportunity to work independently on highly current microbiological research questions.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a BTA (Biological Technical Assistant), MTA (Medical Technical Assistant), or comparable qualification; or completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Life Sciences or similar field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in handling bacteria
  • Experience with molecular biological techniques (PCR, qPCR, cloning, extractions, blotting, ELISA, microscopy)
  • Experience in processing clinical and blood samples
  • Responsibility in handling Risk Group 2 pathogenic bacteria
