Job Summary

This PhD position, based at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) Faculty of Medicine, offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the SFB/TRR 425 DEFINE consortium, investigating fundamental mechanisms of desmosome disorders. The successful candidate will focus on Project A02, characterizing the role of B-plexins in regulating desmosome adhesion and its connection to diseases like pemphigus. Day-to-day responsibilities include executing central research questions, collaborating closely with partners (especially the pharmacology department in Marburg), analyzing complex data, and preparing findings for scientific conferences and publications. This role requires a Master’s degree in life sciences, strong motivation for biomedical research, and fluency in English. It offers close supervision, a structured mentoring program, and access to modern lab equipment (Confocal, STED, Atomic-Force, Electron Microscopes) within a highly interdisciplinary and supportive environment in central Munich.
