Job Summary

This role is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated PhD candidate to join the collaborative research center SFB/TRR 425 DEFINE at the prestigious Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. The successful candidate will focus on Project A02, investigating the fundamental mechanisms of desmosomal adhesion and adhesion loss related to diseases like Pemphigus, specifically examining the role of B-Plexins. Day-to-day tasks involve conducting cutting-edge biomedical and cell biological research, collaborating closely with partners (especially the Institute of Pharmacology in Marburg), evaluating generated data, and preparing findings for scientific conferences and publications. This position offers close supervision, structured mentoring, and access to modern laboratories equipped with advanced technology like Confocal, STED, and Electron microscopes, making it an excellent launching pad for a career in biomedical research.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree (or equivalent) in Life Sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Medicine) or related fields

Experience

  • Experience in biomedical and cell biological research
  • Experience in informatics/bioinformatics (image analysis, data processing) is highly advantageous
  • Ability to work cooperatively in an interdisciplinary research environment
