Job Summary

This Postdoctoral Researcher position at the Senckenberg German Entomological Institute (SDEI) in Müncheberg focuses on developing and applying advanced Text Mining methods to extract biodiversity-relevant information from historical and scientific texts, particularly in Entomology. The role involves designing and testing tools for identifying and linking central entities (taxa, collectors, locations), including disambiguation and semantic enrichment in biodiversity contexts. A core responsibility is building and optimizing workflows to analyze entomological texts, focusing on functional traits, historical contexts, and geographic distribution, and integrating this information into major biodiversity data infrastructures (e.g., DiSSCo, GBIF) adhering to FAIR principles and standards (RDF, Darwin Core). The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in a relevant data science or biodiversity field, possesses strong scientific programming skills (Python), and is committed to Open Science.
