Job Summary

The State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart (SMNS), one of Germany's largest natural history museums, is seeking a creative and engaged Exhibition Curator to develop fascinating, natural history-focused exhibitions. This role involves curating the major state exhibition "1001 Faces of Diversity" and leading the conceptualization of a new, innovative exhibition space at Rosenstein Palace, focusing on collection-based research. The successful candidate will drive participatory and creative concept development, conduct scientific research, select and elaborate content and exhibits, and produce and edit exhibition texts in both German and English. This position requires strong communication skills to coordinate interdisciplinary teams, ensure adherence to standards of diversity, inclusion, and accessibility, and incorporate visitor feedback and societal discourse into exhibition design. The role offers a chance to significantly contribute to science communication and educational outreach.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (e.g., Natural Sciences, Museology, Communication Sciences, Cultural Studies, or related field)

Experience

  • Multiple years of experience in the agile and participatory development of exhibition projects
  • Professional experience with current discourses and methods of science communication and storytelling
  • Experience in museum education, mediation, or exhibition design (Advantageous)
