Job Summary
The State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart (SMNS), one of Germany's largest natural history museums, is seeking a creative and engaging Exhibition Curator to join their team. This role involves curating the major state exhibition "1001 Faces of Diversity" and developing innovative, sustainable, and target-group-oriented concepts for new exhibition spaces, particularly focusing on presenting collection-based research at Schloss Rosenstein. The Curator will lead participatory idea generation, conduct scientific research, select and develop relevant content and exhibits, and create compelling overall narratives for complex topics. A key responsibility is writing and editing exhibition texts in both German and English, ensuring quality, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and sustainability throughout the concept development and realization phases. The ideal candidate possesses a relevant university degree, multi-year experience in agile exhibition development, and strong communication skills to manage interdisciplinary teams and external service providers.

Completed university degree (e.g., in Natural Sciences, Museology, Communication Sciences, Cultural Studies, or a related field)
Experience
- Multi-year experience in the agile and participatory development of exhibition projects
- Professional experience in scientific research and content selection
- Professional experience in fostering collaboration between specialized departments
- Experience in museum education, mediation, or exhibition design (advantageous)

Additional
- Initial contract limited to three years, with the option for permanent employment; part-time employment of at least 80% is possible.
