Job Summary

The State Laboratory Berlin-Brandenburg (LLBB), an independent, accredited state analytical service provider, is seeking an experienced Head of Department for Elemental Analysis, Feed, Fertilizers, and Plant Protection. This leadership role involves the technical and organizational management of a critical department responsible for analyzing feed, fertilizers, harvest products, and grains for content, contaminants, and heavy metals. The successful candidate will lead and motivate staff, ensure compliance with DIN EN 17025:2018 and occupational safety laws, and drive the analytical development of the department in line with legal requirements. Key qualifications include a relevant scientific university degree (Master/Diploma, preferably PhD), extensive experience in laboratory management, and deep knowledge of chemical/physical analytical methods for the relevant product groups, making this a highly responsible position at the intersection of public health and consumer protection.

Required Skills

Education

Relevant scientific university degree (Diploma or Master), such as Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Agricultural Sciences, preferably with a PhD

Experience

  • Professional experience in leading and motivating staff
  • Several years of experience in the comprehensive investigation and assessment of the department's product groups
  • Many years of experience in the field of general and special chemical/physical methods for feed, fertilizer, and elemental analysis
  • Several years of experience leading a laboratory area
  • Experience in technical, personnel, and resource responsibility
