Job Summary

This strategic leadership role, based in Mainz, Germany, involves coordinating a cross-functional materials team responsible for the lifecycle management of raw materials and components critical for producing individualized cancer therapeutics. The Director will develop and implement robust, long-term strategies to ensure an efficient, regulatory-compliant, and scalable material supply chain, facilitating the seamless transition from research through to commercial manufacturing. Key responsibilities include overseeing the entire material lifecycle, ensuring compliance with GMP regulations and biopharmaceutical manufacturing requirements, identifying and mitigating supply risks, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize sourcing and reduce costs. The role requires an advanced scientific degree (preferred), 8-10 years of experience in the biotech/pharma sector with at least 5 years specializing in materials management, and proven leadership capability in a matrix organization.

Required Skills

Education

Degree in a scientific field; advanced degree (MSc, PhD) strongly preferred.

Experience

  • 8-10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
  • Minimum of 5 years specializing in materials management
  • Proven leadership experience in a matrix organization
  • Hands-on responsibility as a direct line manager (hiring, coaching, evaluating, and developing team members)
  • Professional experience with RNA or DNA-based products (preferred)
