Job Summary

The GWDG is seeking a Service Developer to join the eScience group, focusing on innovative research projects at the intersection of science and IT. Initially, you will contribute to the ITsJOINTLY project, developing a scalable, AI-supported content management system for educational materials. Day-to-day tasks involve applying generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to generate metadata and perform content analysis, as well as integrating various applications with the existing AI infrastructure and educational APIs. You will also be responsible for supporting and onboarding new partners onto the platform. There is a potential opportunity to develop collaboration features based on decentralized social networks, utilizing protocols like Nostr. The ideal candidate holds a university degree (Bachelor or Master) in Computer Science or a related field, possesses good programming skills, and has professional experience in developing and operating web services or APIs. This role offers the unique chance to work in an agile, interdisciplinary team environment close to leading research institutions (Max Planck Society, University of Göttingen) and provides flexible working hours and the possibility of pursuing a doctorate.

Education

Completed university degree (Bachelor or Master), preferably in Computer Science, Digital Humanities, Physics, or Mathematics, or a comparable qualification with relevant professional experience

Experience

  • Professional experience in the development and operation of web services or APIs
  • Good programming knowledge in one or more languages (e.g., Python, Java, or TypeScript mentioned)
  • Interest in Artificial Intelligence (LLMs and AI-supported services) and/or decentralized social networks (e.g., Nostr)
