Job Summary

This role involves supporting a third-party funded project focused on analyzing non-commercial fish communities using molecular methods, such as metabarcoding, from environmental DNA (eDNA). The Technical Assistant will be responsible for critical day-to-day laboratory and field work, including eDNA sampling during research cruises in the North Sea and assisting with experimental work. Key tasks include sample preparation, eDNA extraction, and preparing samples for Next Generation Sequencing, as well as molecular determination of fish using DNA barcoding. The ideal candidate must possess fundamental knowledge in molecular biology (qPCR, ddPCR, DNA-Metabarcoding) and practical experience in environmental DNA sampling and laboratory work. Required qualifications include a recognized technical assistant certification (preferably BTA) or equivalent laboratory technician qualification.
