Job Summary

The Landesdirektion Sachsen (LDS) is seeking a dedicated and experienced leader to head Unit 53, focusing on Radiation Protection and Occupational Medicine. This pivotal role involves comprehensive organizational, personnel, and technical leadership of a 37-member team across three locations: Dresden, Chemnitz, and Leipzig. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding and advising staff, developing work instructions, and optimizing workflows within the upper state occupational safety authority. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to public safety and health, ensuring compliance with radiation protection laws and occupational health standards. It requires strong negotiation skills, exceptional leadership, and clear communication to foster a high-performing team in a secure and impactful public service environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Diplom, Master, or equivalent – Master required for university of applied sciences degrees, with a combined Bachelor's and Master's degree totaling at least 300 ECTS) in an engineering or scientific discipline (especially Physics or Medical Technology).

Experience

  • At least one year of leadership experience in interdisciplinary organizational units or work groups with at least five employees, or in the technical guidance of at least eight employees
  • For public sector applicants: At least two years of experience in a supreme state or federal authority (or comparable EU institutions, parliamentary administrations, audit offices, municipal state associations)
  • For non-public sector applicants: At least five years of professional experience in diverse work areas comparable in responsibility to specialist and leadership roles in the public sector
  • Professional experience in a technical field, occupational safety, and/or occupational medicine is highly desirable
  • Experience in digitalization projects is highly desirable
