Job Summary

This role is for a Machine Learning Specialist to join the Business Base Register team, focusing on optimizing data-generating and data-processing workflows within the administrative data sector. The specialist will leverage AI and machine learning techniques to enhance data normalization, plausibility checks, and matching processes, while also identifying automation potentials and developing new AI use cases for the register. The position involves acting as an internal and external ambassador for AI, advising on Data Science and Generative AI applications, and supporting the integration of AI products into operational processes. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Germany's digital administration and the implementation of the 'Once-Only' principle, fostering efficiency and reducing bureaucracy for businesses and public administration.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university education (Master / Diploma-Uni. / Magister) in Economics and/or Social Sciences (including Political Sciences), or MINT fields (Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, and Technology), or a degree providing equivalent specialized knowledge.

Experience

  • Professional experience in identifying and advancing fundamental questions related to the Business Base Register and the use of AI in administrative register data
  • Knowledge and implementation capability regarding relevant automation methods in data preparation, especially in normalization, statistical matching, record linkage, and/or machine learning procedures, including associated quality assurance concepts
  • Practical experience in implementing Artificial Intelligence procedures, specifically machine learning procedures (advantageous)
  • High IT affinity with in-depth knowledge in R or SAS
  • Experience with collaboration, reporting, and knowledge management tools like Confluence and Jira (advantageous)
  • Practical experience in conducting cross-divisional projects within the Federal Statistical Office (advantageous)
