Job Summary

This role is for a GIS Engineer specializing in operations and database management, crucial for supporting Germany's largest distribution grid operator in its digitalization and energy transition efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for the conceptualization, operation, administration, and continuous development of complex GIS IT infrastructure within a public cloud environment, leveraging ESRI technologies. Day-to-day tasks involve managing GIS databases, ensuring high-performance system operations through monitoring and automation, developing and optimizing GIS applications, and leading or participating in Geo-IT projects. This position is ideal for someone passionate about contributing to sustainable energy solutions and improving regional infrastructure, working within an agile and collaborative team.

Required Skills

Education

Completed degree in Geoinformatics, Computer Science, Surveying, Energy Technology, or comparable qualification

Experience

  • Several years of experience in the operation and development of GIS systems, with a focus on ESRI technologies
  • Professional experience with VertiGIS UT-Systemtechnik (ideally)
  • Strong project experience in using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, PL/SQL, Terraform)
  • Strong experience with versioned geodatabases (e.g., Azure SQL, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle)
  • Proven experience in conducting performance analyses and system optimizations
