Job Summary

This role involves working as a scientific expert in X-ray analytical material investigations within the Central Analytics I department of the Federal Criminal Police Office. The expert will be responsible for processing forensic investigation requests, preparing scientifically sound reports and expert opinions for court, and representing these findings in legal proceedings. Key responsibilities also include conceptualizing and conducting R&D work to optimize forensic investigation methods, delivering lectures, and representing German forensic science nationally and internationally. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Diplom, Magister, or Master) in Chemistry, Material Sciences, Geosciences, or a comparable field with a focus on instrumental analytics

Experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge of X-ray diffractometry and X-ray fluorescence analysis
  • In-depth practical experience in X-ray diffractometry, ideally gained during a doctorate
  • Experience in scanning electron microscopy
  • High commitment to performance and responsibility in scientific project work
  • Professional experience in team-oriented collaboration

  • Willingness to travel domestically and to European countries (approx. 4 times per year, 2-4 days per trip) for court dates, research projects, conferences, and training.
