Job Summary

As an IT System Administrator at the State Office for Environment in Mainz, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and evolving the IT infrastructure. Your daily responsibilities will involve contributing to the conception and implementation of IT systems, managing client environments, and providing first and second-level user support. You will also be responsible for server environment management (physical and virtual), user and rights administration, software distribution, and patch management. Furthermore, you will oversee network and communication technology, plan and implement IT security measures, and create essential operational and IT security documentation. This position offers an engaging and varied work environment within a supportive team, promoting independent work, flexible hours, and continuous professional development.

Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed university degree (Bachelor / Diploma FH) in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Mathematics, Communication Technology, or comparable IT-related study programs.

Experience

  • At least one year of relevant professional experience in IT-related fields
  • Proven experience with MS Windows 11 and MS Windows Server 2016+
  • Applied experience in software distribution and service management
  • Practical experience with IT security programs and firewalls
  • Experience in evaluating and tracking CERT notifications (advantageous)
  • Experience in managing and coordinating external specialized companies (advantageous)

  • Willingness to quickly adapt to changing tasks. Driver's license Class B (old: Class III) and willingness to drive official vehicles or be driven by a work assistant (advantageous).
