Job Summary

The City of Stuttgart is seeking an IT Engineer to join its Office for Digitalization, Organization, and IT (DO.IT). In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and reliable management of city-wide browsers. Your day-to-day tasks will include conceiving and designing browser solutions across their entire lifecycle, providing 2nd-level support, and assisting Citizen Developers with web technology inquiries. You will actively contribute to the continuous improvement of IT services related to browsers through design, testing, operation, and the implementation of technical solutions for web environments, including project-related software engineering tasks. This position offers a future-proof job within a public service context, focusing on critical digital infrastructure for the city.

Required Skills

Education

Completed Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a comparable field. For foreign degrees, recognition in Germany or proof of an equivalent qualification is required.

Experience

  • Initial experience in problem analysis and concept creation
  • Good understanding of complex, networked systems
  • Experience in the realization of web applications, ideally with JavaScript
  • Ideally, experience in project-based work
  • Ideally, experience in handling security issues in the browser environment
  • Experience with the lifecycle of various browsers (e.g., Firefox, Edge) is advantageous
  • Experience with complex municipal structures is advantageous
