Job Summary
The Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) is seeking a Test and Systems Engineer to contribute to the ESA RAMSES mission. This role involves comprehensive functional and environmental testing of plasma spectrometer electronics, including planning and executing beam test campaigns using LABVIEW. The engineer will be responsible for evaluating and analyzing test results, preparing technical documentation, and reporting to ESA and spacecraft providers. Key responsibilities also include software verification and modification for instrument operation, as well as developing data pipelines for test and calibration data. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge space missions in an international research environment, contributing to fundamental solar and planetary sciences.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent
Experience
- Professional experience in space projects (ESA, NASA, etc.) desired
- Experience in testing, calibrating, and operating plasma instrumentation desired

Additional
- Employment is initially limited until June 30, 2027, with a likely extension until December 31, 2029, pending funding confirmation from the German Space Agency DLR. Position can be filled starting November 1, 2025, or later. Remuneration is according to the German public salary scale TVöD-Bund E13.
