Job Summary
The Fraunhofer Institute for Cognitive Systems IKS is seeking an Applied Scientist to research and implement quantum-inspired methods, such as tensor networks, into practical software tools for industrial applications. This role involves working within a dynamic team in Munich's quantum ecosystem, collaborating closely with industrial partners in sectors like automation, mobility, and healthcare. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in computer science or a related field, with proven experience in tensor networks, AI software like PyTorch and TensorFlow, and a foundational understanding of quantum computing and relevant software. Required Skills
Education
Master's degree in Computer Science or comparable field
Experience
- Proven experience in using tensor networks
- Experience in using AI software like PyTorch and TensorFlow
- Basic knowledge in quantum computing including relevant software like Pennylane or Qiskit
- Experience in professional software development methods, particularly GitHub/GitLab and continuous integration
- Experience working in interdisciplinary teams

- Temporary contract for 2 years (with possibility of extension); Full-time (39 hours/week) or part-time options available; Eligibility for doctorate studies if qualified; Must be highly motivated with an independent working style.
