Join DESY as a Science Network Engineer to play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining cutting-edge onsite data centers for the CTAO Astroteilchen-Observatorium in La Palma and Chile. You'll be instrumental in designing, implementing, and securing the distributed systems, computer networks, and overall security of these critical facilities. This involves hands-on work with network topology, firewall security zones, and robust network security concepts. With a focus on remote operation from DESY Zeuthen, you'll contribute to a world-leading research center, enabling scientific advancements through state-of-the-art infrastructure and a collaborative, international environment. This is an exciting opportunity to shape new data centers from the ground up and support groundbreaking research.
Required Skills
Education
University degree in Computer Science, Technical Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience
Experience
- Professional experience in planning, implementing, and maintaining distributed systems and computer networks
- Professional experience in network security concepts and firewall management
- Professional experience with network structures and protocols
