Job Summary
This Postdoctoral Research Associate position at Philipps University Marburg, within the Institute for Molecular Biology and Tumor Research, focuses on the genregulatory function of Protein-Arginine Methyltransferases (PRMT) in hematopoietic cells and leukemia. The successful candidate will independently plan, conduct, and evaluate experiments under BSL-2 conditions, contributing to a project aimed at characterizing PRMT1's role. Beyond research, the role involves significant contributions to university teaching in biochemistry and molecular biology for medical, dental, and human biology students. Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree (Diploma, Master or equivalent) in Biology, Human Biology, or Biochemistry; Completed PhD or proof of a doctoral project nearing completion.
Experience
- Professional experience in scientific research and teaching in Human Medicine, Dentistry, and Human Biology study programs
- Professional experience in characterizing the genregulatory role of PRMT1 in hematopoietic and leukemic cells
- Professional experience in independent planning, execution, and evaluation of experiments under BSL-2 conditions
- Professional experience in project development and results discussion with project partners
- Professional experience in contributing to scientific publications, grant applications, and presentations
- Several years of experience in the research field of protein arginine methylation
- Experience in organizing courses (practical exercises, seminars) in Human/Dental Medicine and supervising laboratory practicals in Human Biology (BSc, MSc)
- In-depth methodological experience in NGS-based transcriptome analyses and their bioinformatic evaluation
- In-depth methodological experience in epigenome analyses
- In-depth methodological experience in affinity purification of proteins and protein complexes
- In-depth methodological experience in working with radioisotopes and biochemical, enzymatic assays

- This is a fixed-term qualification position for 2 years, starting January 1, 2026. The position is intended for acquiring further scientific competencies (e.g., preparation for a subsequent qualification phase). The limitation is based on § 2, 1 WissZeitVG.
