Job Summary

This role involves providing essential technical and administrative support to the Special Animal Ecology working group at Philipps University. The successful candidate will be responsible for laboratory management, including equipment maintenance, procurement of consumables, and training of student assistants. A significant part of the role includes independent fieldwork in national and international biodiversity research projects, which involves sorting arthropod samples, managing data, and setting up and maintaining insect traps and automatic recording systems. Additionally, the assistant will handle sample archiving, insect preparation for measurement, database maintenance, and administrative tasks, offering a diverse and engaging work environment in cutting-edge ecological research.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a Biological-Technical Assistant or Technical Assistant for Natural History Museums and Research Institutes, or comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in common laboratory procedures and safety regulations
  • Experience with fieldwork and willingness for national and international business trips
