Job Summary

This PhD position at Jena University Hospital involves cutting-edge research in developing advanced in vitro models for infection studies. The successful candidate will differentiate human iPS cells into various lung cell types, establish a complex immune-competent lung-on-chip model with an air-liquid interface, and develop an S. aureus infection model. Key responsibilities include designing and executing infection experiments, evaluating nanoparticle-encapsulated antibiotics, and creating a multiparametric diagnostic scoring system. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Diploma/Master) in life sciences, molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or related disciplines

Experience

  • Practical experience in cell culture, ideally with iPSCs or primary cells
  • Experience with microbiological techniques, especially involving pathogenic bacteria (e.g., S. aureus) is advantageous
