Job Summary

This Data Engineer position in Cologne, Germany, offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a vital research project focused on diversity-sensitive psychiatric care. You will be instrumental in managing and enhancing a clinical patient routine data Oracle database, crucial for the PSY-DIVER project. A key part of your role involves developing Natural Language Processing (NLP) pipelines, utilizing both rule-based and Large Language Model (LLM) approaches, to extract and classify socio-demographic and clinical variables from documentation texts. Additionally, you will support Machine Learning analyses and benchmarking, with the potential to establish a Data Lake for clinical routine documentation. This role is ideal for someone passionate about leveraging data engineering for social impact within a multidisciplinary team, offering a chance to shape the future of healthcare.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree in Computer Science, Medical Informatics, Data Engineering, or a comparable field

Experience

  • Professional experience with relational databases and non-relational database designs
  • Professional experience in handling sensitive data and ensuring high data security
  • Professional experience in building data platforms/developer experience (DevEx)
