Job Summary

This role involves comprehensive engagement with immission control and waste law, contributing significantly to environmental protection by safeguarding humans and the environment from harmful impacts like air pollution, noise, and odors. Day-to-day tasks include processing cases related to immission control and waste law for non-permit-required facilities, handling citizen complaints, and providing expert advice to facility operators, builders, architects, and engineering firms. The position also entails conducting site inspections to ensure compliance with technical requirements and performing measurements and calculations for immission forecasts (noise, air, light). This is a part-time, permanent position within a 7-person team at the Environmental and Nature Conservation Office in Neukölln, Berlin, offering a stable and impactful career in public service.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's or Diploma (FH) degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Process Engineering, Recycling, Environment and Sustainability, Technical Environmental Protection, Environmental Technology, Waste Management and Contaminated Sites, or a comparable degree with a focus on immission control/waste law.

Experience

  • Professional experience in immission control and waste law
  • Experience in processing legal cases related to environmental regulations
  • Experience in advising stakeholders on environmental protection matters
  • Willingness to conduct fieldwork and work outside regular hours when necessary
  • Readiness to mentor junior staff (trainees, interns, dual students) if required

  • The role requires fieldwork and potentially working outside normal hours (evenings, nights, weekends). Applicants must submit complete application documents in German.
