Job Summary

As the Head of IT Department for University IT, you will lead the technical operations of Department 5, reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Hannover University. This pivotal role involves ensuring the stable, secure, and high-performing operation and further development of the university's central IT infrastructure and services. You will be instrumental in the technical implementation of the digital strategy, contributing significantly to the digital transformation of the university. Collaborating with the administrative department head, you will lead and foster the professional and personal development of your team, manage IT projects, and oversee IT service management according to ITIL standards. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic academic environment, shaping the future of IT for approximately 9,000 students and over 1,000 staff members.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Master/University Diploma) or equivalent qualification from a university

Experience

  • Several years of relevant leadership experience managing at least five employees in complex IT infrastructures and IT teams
  • Experience in a university or scientific environment (ideally)
  • Experience in IT service management (e.g., according to ITIL)
  • Experience in leading IT projects with at least ten project employees
  • Experience in collaborating with various stakeholders and committees (ideally in a university context)
  • Experience with IT in heterogeneous system landscapes (Linux, Mac, Windows)
  • Experience with the development of organization-wide IT architectures
