Job Summary

This doctoral position at the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Research Neutron Source (FRM II) in Garching, Germany, offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in neutron physics. The successful candidate will investigate the reflection and storage of ultracold neutrons on novel ultra-nanocrystalline diamond surface coatings, and conduct scattering experiments on cryo-solids to determine interaction cross-sections at extremely low energies. This role involves evaluating experimental results to design and improve new sources for very cold and ultracold neutrons, with experiments conducted at various international research facilities. The doctoral procedure will be carried out at the TUM School of Natural Sciences, providing a strong academic foundation and a chance to work in an international, high-security research environment.
